Vicente Fernandez Background Information

Vicente Fernandez is a popular Mexican ranchero singer who inherited his great musical talent from his famous father Alejandro Fernandez. Vicente Fernandez is so loved in Mexico that he's often referred to as “The King” there.

Vicente was born in a poor family in Mexico and had to work as a shoeshine boy, a waiter and dishwasher before he decided to make his living by singing. Aged 21, he earned his first money by singing. Latin America and Spain received his ranchera music best of all.

Fernandez has released the total of 56 albums. One of his best-selling recordings was his tribute to Trio de los Panchos, who produced two top hits for him, "Miseria" and "No, No y No." In 2005, Fernández and his grown-up sons, Alejandro and Vicente Fernández Jr. became the first Latin American singers who appeared as cartoons in a video.

Vicente has a star in Hollywood's Walk of Fame. More than 5,000 people attended his ceremony. Fernandez is successful not only in Latin America and Spain, but also in the United States. He has given many concerts here. In his 60s, Fernandez is still very energetic. He plays in front of large crowds and has extensive discography, keeping making tours all over the world.

Fernadez recorded a new album Para Siempre, which he is going to present on his 2007 tour in the Fall. The concerts are scheduled for Nov 2, Nov 3, Nov 4, Nov 8, Nov 9, Nov 10, Nov 11, Nov 23, and Nov 24 with most of the performances taking place in California in Gibson Amph. Universal City.
