For a team that holds the league leading record (76-47) and has thus far dominated its competition, The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim certainly have a soft spot for The Tampa Bay Rays. The two teams have (at this point) met for 7 times this season with 5 wins going into the Tampa Bay Ray win column. Last night, The Angels received no divine assistance in their 6-4 loss. "Two bad pitches, that's what it comes down to," stated Angels starting pitcher Jon Garland. The "two bad pitches" he refers to are: one that led to a 2-run homer in the second by Eric Hinske, and another 2-run bomb by Cliff Floyd in the third. Try as the Angels did to rally, they ultimately came with too little, too late. As I write this, the Angels/Rays game two is about one and a half hours away, though it is being threatened by inclement weather. If it plays out, Santana will face Shields.
