The ethereal Angels seem to have lost that heavenly glow as of late. Both their bats and bullpen have been failing on this past 6-game road streak. Between the six games played at Cleveland and Tampa Bay, the Angels only managed 20 runs, which averages out to 3.33 runs per game. Now, that may work if you’re pitching is solid but lately, The Angels bullpen has been downright sloppy. This is the same bullpen that has been notoriously stingy with runs the entire season. In the past six road games the Angels have played, they have lost four. Of the four losses, three have been attributed to the relievers or closers. Right-handed reliever, Justin Speier, is not necessarily too concerned as of yet. He believes that it is simply a lull that the team is going through as a whole and will pass soon. It is better to sputter now, he believes, than right before postseason when momentum really matters. Besides, with a 15-game lead on second-place Texas Rangers, the Angels could leave the country for the rest of the season and still make it to the playoffs. The Angels play Minnesota tonight at 7:05 PDT in the second of a four-game series. Angels’ lefty Joe Saunders will face Twins’ lefty Glen Perkins.
