The Oakland Athletics could not avoid a sweep to the Kansas City Royals, as they fell 4-3 in ten innings. The A’s struck first as they went ahead 2-0 in the 2nd inning on Bobby Crosby and Ryan Sweeney RBI singles. The Royals answered with two runs in the following inning to tie the game. Both teams managed a run in the 6th and 7th inning, and the game remained tied at 3-3 after 9 innings. Huston Street took the loss as he allowed the Royals to score in the 10th inning on a Jose Guillen sacrifice fly. Oakland went down in order against Royal’s closer Joakim Soria, and dropped to one game under .500 on the season. The A’s are off Thursday before they head to Boston for a 3-game series with the Red Sox starting on Friday.
