Cardinals lose 2-1

 The St. Louis Cardinals found themselves in a tight game against the Kansas City Royals, only to fall 2-1 Tuesday. The Cardinals had an early 1-0 advantage before the Royals tied it up in the 6th and went ahead for good in the 8th inning. Joel Pineiro lasted seven innings allowing 7 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 4. Ron Villone took the loss giving up the home run to Mike Aviles. St. Louis will look to get back on track Wednesday night when they take on the Royals in the second game of the series.
