The Tampa Bay Rays saw the Oakland Athletics snap their 6 game losing streak Tuesday night as the Rays fell 8-1. The Rays only run came in the 3rd inning when Tampa Bay went up 1-0 on a sacrifice fly from Carlos Pena. Oakland then stormed back with 3 runs the following inning off starter Andy Sonnanstine. The Rays could not manage anything else against the A's pitching staff and when the Oakland offense added 4 runs in the top of the 8th, it sealed the deal. Sonnanstine was hit with the loss as he pitched 7 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs while striking out 5. Carl Crawford was the only bright spot for Tampa Bay as he had 2 hits on the night. The Rays will look to bounce back Wednesday when they take on the Athletics in the series finale.
