The Tampa Bay Rays got a much needed boost of confidence, thanks to a 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday night. The Rays struggled after the All-star break but finished their current road trip 4-3. Tampa Bay struck early as Carl Crawford hit an RBI triple in the top of the 1st inning to put the Rays up 1-0. The Blue Jays answered in the following inning as Lyle Overbay connected for a 2-run homer to put Toronto in front 2-1. But in the fourth inning, the Rays would get the lead back and hold it, Carlos Pena started the inning with his 18th home run of the year. After Eric Hinske hit a double and advanced to third on a single, he would score when Gabe Gross hit into a double play. That put Tampa Bay ahead 3-2 and the Rays pitching took care of the rest. Edwin Jackson got the win as he gave up seven hits in five innings while walking two and striking out three. The bullpen held the Jays scoreless and Troy Percival closed it out for his 23rd save of the year.
