When you're managing a team that's over the .500 record mark by 30 games strong, you might feel a little bit secure about your team and berth in the playoffs. The previous sentence is meant for anyone other than Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia who feels that his team needs to play tighter than ever during the September stretch, especially during this weekend's series with the unpredictable White Sox. "We're in a race," Scioscia states. "We need to play good baseball. We need to regain our continuity. We're not doing things as crisply right now as we did maybe a couple weeks ago." Though his playoff berth is quite secure (17 games above the second place Texas Rangers), Scioscia wants to ensure that his team wins the race for home field advantage through the playoffs (World Series advantage automatically going to the AL after their all star game win). That's all the more reason not to take the 75-61 White Sox lightly; combined with the fact that they can smack the ball around and pitch it equally as well when they're playing well.
