About the Charlotte Bobcats

The Charlotte Bobcats were created after the original Charlotte Hornets moved their team to New Orleans in the 2002-2003 NBA season. Although many groups tried bidding for this new team, the ownership is lead by Black Entertainment Television founder Robert L. Johnson. But the Bobcats luck didnt stop there; Michael Jordan became the 2nd biggest owner for the Bobcats, and even rap superstar Nelly has a share. Johnson picked the name, over the city vote of flight, because of the bobcats that reside in Charlotte and because the NFL team is named after the Panthers and he wanted to stick with the feline names.

The Charlotte Bobcats joined the eastern conference-southeastern division among other greats like Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, and Washington Wizards. The Bobcats have since picked up Gerald Wallace and in 2004 they traded with the LA Clippers to take on Emeka Okafor. A good choice for the bobcats as Emeka went on the win Rookie of the Year in 2005. The started their first season off with a loss to the Wizards but eventually became stronger as a team and grabbed a much larger fan base when they beat the New Orleans Hornets in overtime. In this past 2005 Draft the Bobcats grabbed guard Raymond Felton and forward Sean May from the UNC team that had just wont the NCAA championship.

The Charlotte bobcats used their 3rd position in the 2006 draft to pick up Adam Morrison, the fiery 2006 NCAA scoring champion. The offseason also brought in a huge front office pickup as Michael Jordan returned home to North Carolina and joined Robert Johnson as co-owner and president of basketball operations. With all this young strong potential, the Charlotte Bobcats are sure to create a roar among North Caroline fans. You cant miss out on Bobcat tickets, with a power force behind them and a bright future in front of them, these cats are going to be let out of the bag!
