In the ranking of all 119 1-A teams in July of 2007, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were given a formidable 32. Their team has been on the rise since 2000, and has earned 56 wins between then and the end of the 2006 season, succeeded only by three Big 12 teams for victories in the conference for that period. This past season ended with a visit to the Gator bowl where they made their on-field presence felt for the Virginia Cavaliers. They finished with a mighty 9-4 showing they intend to continue gaining momentum.
Head Coach Mike Leach endured a $10,000 fine for speaking out about game officials after a 2006 match up with Texas, he is passionate about seeing the team go places. In preseason polls Texas Tech has been ranked #10 by Fox Sports and Stewart Mandel. Mark Schlabach has them as #12. January 2008 found a new defensive coordinator, Ruffin McNeil, gracing their field; while offensive coordinator for the Raiders, Dana Holgorsen, moved on to join the Houston Cougars in the same capacity in February 2008. Great things are happening on the field, so check out the Jones AT&T Stadium seating chart at vividseats.com and see the Texas Tech Red Raiders lay it down for the 2008-2009 season.
