In the ranking of all 119 1-A teams in July of 2007, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were given a formidable 32. Their team has been on the rise since 2000, and has earned 56 wins between then and the end of the 2006 season, succeeded only by three Big 12 teams for victories in the conference for that period. This past season ended with a visit to the Gator bowl where they made their on-field presence felt for the Virginia Cavaliers.
