Although the Washington Redskins disappointed their fans in 2006, they can do better in this season. One of the most important elements for the success of the team in 2007 is better performance of the quarterback Jason Campbell. Also, it is essential to get improvement on the defensive line. Last year the defense unit was doing something else, and the team reaped the results of such play. Twelve losses in sixteen games is not something you can boast of at any level of football.
In this 2007 season the Redskins have made some significant steps for the restructuring of the personnel, however, they failed to address their slow pass rush. The overall situation for the team will probably not get much better or worse, and the spectators will not see a great play this year again.
The head coach of the team right now is Joe Gibbs, who came out of retirement for training the franchise. Since he returned, the Washington Redskins have had two bad seasons out of the three. If things do not change to the better, he might have to leave again.
Talking about the defense line, the Redskins strengthened the secondary, where they put defensive backs David Macklin, Fred Smoot, Jerametrius Butler and a starter LaRon Landry. Having Landry work with Sean Taylor may give the team the required potential for one of the best safety couples in the National Football League in the future. The team signed London Fletcher-Baker, which should support the linebacking crew, in case the last year’s top pick Rocky McIntosh can take care of the weak side, and strong side linebacker Marcus Washington can start playing in a decent way.
During the annual draft pick, the team added a few new players in the secondary and got rid of some defensive backs such as Mike Rumph and Troy Vincent. Starting weak side linebacker Warrick Holdman and backup running back T.J. Duckett and kicker John Hall left the team as well.
The expected result for the Redskins this season is 6-10 and third in the NFC East.
