Sign up for savings, info, and more! The Chicago Blackhawks were the first team to secure a spot in the NHL Playoffs 2013, which came as no surprise considering the franchise’s smashing 24-game point streak to open the shortened 2012-13 season. The Blackhawks’ prowess has continued to light up the NHL this season, suffering only five losses after their streak was brought to an end. Although they’ve yet to officially clinch the Central Division and the Western Conference, the Blackhawks are well on their way to making it official as they close out the regular season in April.
It’s also no surprise that young right-winger Patrick Kane has been dominating the statistical charts. He’s leading the Blackhawks with 20 goals and 26 assists for a total of 46 points, followed by captain Jonathan Toews with 19 goals and 21 assists. Former Detroit Red Winger Marian Hossa has also been consistent for the Hawks, notching 14 goals and 10 assists. On the defensive end, both Ray Emery and Corey Crawford have held down the back in goal for the Blackhawks with 15 wins, with Emery’s one loss to Crawford’s four.
There’s any number of scenarios that can go down before we can see who the Blackhawks will be facing in the first round of the playoffs. The Blackhawks are in first place, just a few games ahead of Anaheim, who is leading the Pacific Division. There are a few interchangeable teams at the bottom of the race that the Blackhawks could end up facing, including the St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild, Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars, and the Blackhawks’ bitter rival, the Detroit Red Wings. A Red Wings matchup would be an NHL playoff matchup fans would love to see—especially since the Red Wings are set to depart for the Eastern Conference next season due to the NHL realignment, and will only face the Blackhawks twice a year.
You can watch as the Blackhawks attempt to bring the Stanley Cup back to Chicago once again with Blackhawks playoff tickets from the Vivid Seats marketplace.
