The Reno-Tahoe Open is a well-known golf tournament that is held on the PGA Tour. It takes place every year in August in Reno (Nevada State). The event is held at the famous Montrêux Golf and Country Club.
The event takes place annually at the time when the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational is held. For several years since its foundation, it had a 156-player field that was certainly larger in comparison with the World Golf Championship, that had only a 40 player field. After the World Golf Championship tournament went to a field larger in size (intended for about 80 players) in 2002, the number of participants at the Reno-Tahoe Open decreased to 132 players that year.
