The Gypsy music band was formed in 1964 in Minneapolis and was formerly named as under beats. It was later relocated to Los Angeles to realize the creative potential of the members and changed the name as gypsy. The specialty of this band was that the members themselves wrote and performed many of the original prog rock songs recorded. They mixed Santana like guitar and organ riffs with vocals to produce excellent debut double album which contained Jazz, Prog rock as well as pop elements. The current members of the band include James Walsh, Bob Jones, Bill Davis, Randy Keely, John Domagall, Chico Perez and Stan Kipper.
The most elaborate musical arrangements, the beautifully rendered vocals and spiritual lyrics wrote by Enrico Rosenbaum has made this band as one of the most sought after music band for live concerts. They still perform at major concert venues on some selected dates every year. Gypsy is always welcomed by the crowds because of their distinct class of songs and the re–record of their first album was sold for $100. The popularity of the band is so high that getting gypsy tickets is not an easy task. The tickets for the gypsy concerts are sold like hot cakes and the huge fan following all over the world is testimony to the entertainment that they give to their fans through their music.
Dave Mueller living in St. Louis, Missouri runs a gypsy museum which has a wide collection of gypsy related memorabilia like albums, CD’s, 8 track tapes, posters, photos as well as T-shirts.
