The History of Spamalot

The show had previews in Chicago’s LaSalle Bank Theatre in December 2004 and officially opened, selling-out, in January 2005. The show also previewed on Broadway in New York’s Shubert Theatre in February 2005, and officially opened in March 2005, once again selling out. In 2006, the show went on tour across North America. In 2007, the show won three Touring Broadway Awards including Best New Musical. The show has also been nominated for 14 Tony Awards for the 2004-2005 season, winning Best Musical, Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical (Sara Ramirez), and Best Direction of a Musical (Mike Nichols). The show is scheduled to perform in London West End, Las Vegas, Australia, Germany and Spain from 2008 through 2009.
