Charlie Musselwhite is known as a professional American blues-harp player and bandleader. He is one of the non-African-American bluesmen, who became popular in the early ‘60s, together with Mike Bloomfield and Paul Butterfield.
Musselwhite has released over twenty albums and was a guest on albums by many other musicians, including Bonnie Raitt's Longing in Their Hearts and The Blind Boys of Alabama's Spirit of the Century. Charlie also appeared on Tom Waits' Mule Variations and INXS' Suicide Blonde. more
He himself has won fourteen W. C. Handy awards, six Grammy nominations, and Lifetime Achievement Awards from the San Javier Jazz Festival, the Monterey Blues Festival, and the Mississippi Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts.
The musician believes that the key to his musical success was finding a unique style, where he could express himself. He has recently appeared on the soundtrack for the film "Black Snake Moan," which will be released nationally on March 2.
