Musselwhite and Harper Launch 2013 Get Up! Tour
Strapped with his electric harmonica, Charlie Musselwhite has long been heralded as one of the premier American bluesman since he dropped on the scene in the late 1960’s. In fact, the 69-year-old is rumored to have been the inspiration for one of The Blues Brothers, and now he’s about to hit the road running along with superstar musician Ben Harper in support of their collaborative album, “Get Up!” The blues joint was released on January 29th, and the pair will launch the short stint on March 1st at Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, ON. In total, they’re scheduled to play twelve shows around North America, including stops at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans, LA (4/27); the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC (5/2); and the Beacon Theatre in New York City, NY (5/3). Tickets for the shows are on sale now.
The final collaborative show for the duo will take place at the Doheny Blues Festival in Dana Point, California, but these shows aren’t the only way to see the bluesman live. In addition to his shows with Harper, Musselwhite will be performing solo at the Raven Theater in Healdsburg, CA (2/14); Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, PA (3/12); Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA (3/13); Bridge Street Live in Collinsville, CT (3/14); and two nights at the Lincoln Center in New York, NY (3/15-16). Of note, the Sellersville show on March 12th will feature Deb Callahan. Purchase your 2013 Charlie Musselwhite tickets today to experience soulful American blues the way it was meant to be played.
