The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra was established in 1977. Erich Kunzel was named as its conductor. The well known Cincinnati Pops Orchestra belongs to the Organization known as Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Erich Kunzel escorts the Orchestra and is called as “the Prince of Pops”. It is the world's most energetic classical pops all together performing twenty two subscription concerts through the entire Music Hall season as well as 9 subscription performances at the Riverbend Music Center.
The orchestra is one of the few US orchestras with profitable record deal (with the Telarc International). They record 2 albums every year in favor of Telarc International. Cincinnati Pops performs nationwide and worldwide and has had enthusiastic viewers in Carnegie Hall of New York, in Taiwan, in Washington D.C. and in Japan. Around 340,000 people go to see the orchestra's concerts every year. The attendance is the highest in the country.
