Jackson Browne Background Information

Jackson Browne is a famous American songwriter, rock music singer, pianist and guitarist. His soulful and introspective lyrics have established him as one of the leaders of the southern California confessional singer-songwriter movement that was popular in the 1960s. Bruce Springsteen inducted him into the rock & roll hall of fame. He has juxtaposed his music with broader social causes.

Browne’s career started with the album "Jackson Browne". The track "Doctor my eyes" made it to the top ten hits. The album established him as a deep-thinking song writer. He released his next album in 1973. It was titled "For everyman". Some of the tracks in the album revealed the angst of the artist. His next album "Late for the sky" revealed his despair in the face of a decadent society. This album was followed by "The pretender" which was released in 1976. It is a dark album that came out after the death of his wife. The track "The pretender" is an account of losing in the face of reality. By this time Browne had become famous for his compelling melodies and insightful lyrics.

Browne tasted commercial success with the release of the album "Running on empty". Some of the most popular tracks of the artist including "Running on empty", "The road", "Rosie", "The load out-stay" are form this album. In this album Browne went out of the conventional style of recording and combined his concert performances as well as recordings made in hotel rooms, buses, and back stage.

The albums that followed were: "Hold out ", "Lawyers in Love", Lives in the Balance", "World in motion", "I’m alive", "Looking east", "The naked ride home", and the most recent "Solo acoustic, vol.1" which was released in 2005. The albums that were released in the later years were critically acclaimed and managed to do quite well.
