To the relief of fans around the world, GRAMMY-winning, singer-songwriter, John Mayer, has begun scheduling live performances once again after missing last year with throat problems that ultimately required surgery and significant rest to his singing voice. The guitar virtuoso is set to perform at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on April 25, which will be just the second time that Mayer has hit the stage to sing since March 2012. He returned on Jan. 16 for “The Livingston Town Proper: A Concert to Benefit the Fighters of the Pine Creek Fire," but the upcoming show in Tuscaloosa will be his first full-length concert in three years. St. Paul and the Broken Bones have been tabbed as opener, and tickets for this landmark show are set to go on sale on Friday, March 8, at 10 a.m. ET.

In addition to the Tuscaloosa show, Mayer has also been named as one of the headliners of two of the nation’s finest festivals this spring. He’s set to ignite the crowd inside New York City’s Madison Square Garden as part of Eric Clapton’s 2013 Crossroads Guitar Festival, April 12-13, and afterward, he’ll head south to perform at the 2013 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The event runs over two weekends, April 26-28 and May 2-5, and Mayer will be performing on April 26. For the year thus far, Mayer only has one other North American show scheduled for the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, Calif., on July 22, but fans can expect more dates to be added down the road. Though fans were supplied with his first new album in three years, John Mayer’s 2012 release, Born and Raised, missed out on the usual tour treatment due to recurring vocal cord and throat problems that forced the singer to rest for nearly the entire year. Toward the latter half of 2012, Mayer casually popped up for various guest spots including joining Frank Ocean onstage during his Saturday Night Live performance, in addition to surprising concertgoers in December during the Rolling Stones two-night stand at the Prudential Center.

Now, it appears Mayer is ready to get back out on the road in 2013, as on Jan. 17, he performed his first song since April 2011 (video below), and has booked one of the biggest gigs of the year. Mayer will take the stage on opening day of the 2013 New Orleans Jazz Festival on April 26.
