A self-proclaimed "average guy" Kenny Chesney's huge following is a result of songs written about everyday life and about everyday people. Kenney Chesney grew up in a small town near Knoxville, TN. Born in 1968 Kenny Chesney lived through his adolescent years like any other kid in his town playing football, fishing and chasing girls. It wasn't until college that he began playing music when he received a guitar as a Christmas present.

During his time as East Tennessee State University, Kenny made the decision that he was going to be a country singer. So he started singing. Any show he could get, he started playing. Whether it was the local bar or a Mexican restaurant, as long as it was a place to play he would perform. Soon after graduating from college in 1991, he moved to Nashville and got a job as the resident performer at a rough honky tonk in the rundown part of town. He spent 4-5 nights a week performing at the Turf making $5 an hour plus tips. It certainly wasn't glamorous, but it was the type of place that would inevitably sharpen his chops and teach him how to connect with difficult crowds.

The hard work soon paid off as with the help of someone at BMI, Kenny Chesney signed a publishing deal at Acuff Rose. Soon after, Capricorn Records signed him to a record contract and he released his first album " In My Wildest Dreams" in 1993. Although success was imminent, it wasn't instantaneous or without bumps. In late 1993, the country division of Capricorn records went bankrupt and shut down completely. Yet, having still sold over 100,000 copies, he soon caught the attention of some major labels. He eventually signed with BNA, a subsidiary of RCA and in 1995 released his second record "All I Need to Know."

"All I Need to Know" gave Kenny Chesney his first top ten hits with the songs "Fall In Love" and the title track from the album. The next year, Kenny Chesney followed up his success with "Me and You" which went gold with the help of the title track single and the song ""When I Close My Eyes." In 1997 he released "I Will Stand" a record that went gold, but also provided Kenny Chesney with his first ever number one hit with the song "She's Got It All."

With each persistent effort Kenny Chesney made, the hard work finally began paying off. In 1999, he released "Everywhere We Go," his eventual breakthrough album. "Everywhere We Go" went double platinum selling over two million copies. The record released four hit singles including two number one hits with the songs " You Had Me From Hello" and "How Forever Feels." Following that success, Kenny Chesney released a greatest hits compilation to double platinum success and both of the new songs on the record were top ten hits. Yet, his most successful album to date was the 2002 release "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem" which went to number one as a album and also produced 4 Top Ten hit singles including the number one hit "The Good Stuff."
