Mark Freuder Knopfler was born on August 12, 1949 in Glasgow, Scotland. Mark is a British singer, guitarist, film score writer and a songster. He was born to a Jewish father, who was an architect, and an English mother.
Mark Knopfler was in the beginning well known as a vocalist and a lead guitarist for the rock band Dire Straits, which he with co- founded with his brother David in 1977. After the closure of the band in 1995, Mark sustained to produce and record as a single performer in his personal name.
