Panic! At the Disco is a famous rock band based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The members of the band have integrated various sound compositions, which now have elements of electronic music, indie rock, pop punk, and dance. The current members of the band are Brendon Urie, Ryan Ross, Jon Walker, and Spencer Smith.
The first album of the group was released in 2005 under the name A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. The album entered the Billboard 200 and went as high as #13. Over one million copies of the album have been sold since the release in September 2005. When two close friends Ryan Ross, the guitarist, and Spencer Smith, the drummer were only thirteen years old, they enjoyed playing the Blink-182 songs for different bands. The most recent band, they played in, was organized in the neighborhood of Summerlin, not far from Las Vegas. Two more members were recruited, namely Brent Wilson, the bassist, and Brendon Urie, the vocalist and guitarist. There are several versions of how the name of the band was born. According to one of them, the origin of the band's title comes from the song Panic! by The Smiths. One of the most popular theories is that the name comes from the song written by Name Taken with the name Panic.
In order to promote their music and songs, the band wrote to the Fall Out Boy bassist Peter Wentz, sending him a link to their PureVolume website. Wentz was quite amazed and went to Las Vegas to get acquainted with the band. After a number of compositions, played in the garage, Peter Wentz proposed to sign a contract with his Fueled by Ramen label Decaydance.
Panic! At the Disco appeared at MTVs Total Request Live on January 17, 2006, where the band presented their music video I Write Sins Not Tragedies. The member of the band Urie said that the group believes the song and video were a bit overplayed. He also stated that I Write Sins Not Tragedies was not the only song they have written. The video for the song contains scenes with Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque in a spooky circus-wedding theme. The video debuted at #10 on the Total Request Live chart, bringing the album to the top of the Billboard independent chart and to #13 on the Billboard 200 in July 2006.
