Ryan Adams Background Information

Since his Ryan Adams went solo in 2000 with the album Heartbreaker, he has slowly and surely made his way to success. Heartbreaker went back to folk rock and received acclaim from critics but slow album sales. In 2001 Gold was released and truly reflected the title. Gold remains to be his best-selling album to date. In 2002, Gold received two Grammy nominations for “Best Male Rock Vocal” and “Best Rock Album”. That same year brought Demolition, once again receiving critical acclaim but not as many album sales. Two more albums, Rock N Roll and Love Is Hell, were released before he teamed up with The Cardinals to record Cold Roses and Jacksonville City Nights as well as another solo album, 29, in 2005. He became friends with Phil Lesh (from the Grateful Dead) and performed with him at a couple of shows. He also experimented with hip-hop, releasing albums and albums worth of songs on his website. In 2007, he released Easy Tiger and the three-track Follow the Lights.
Adams plans on releasing two more albums in 2008. One, The Cardinals III/IV, and a solo album. He is currently on tour and joining Oasis for a few select dates.
