Mark Teahen's 8th inning error allowed the Texas Rangers an extra out and go on to score 4 runs in the inning to tie the game at 5. The Rangers would go on to win the game 6-5 against the Kansas City Royals on a passed ball in the 9th. The loss wasted effective pitching from Royals starter Gil Meche who went 6 innings allowing only 4 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 4. It was a terrible ending to a good game from the Royals as they had 13 hits and strong pitching from all their pitchers before the 4 unearned runs came and inevitably led to the loss.
