Royals sharp in win over Cardinals

The Kansas City Royals got a sharp team performance Tuesday, topping the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1. Kyle Davies pitched seven tough innings allowing only one earned run. The Cardinals jumped ahead 1-0 in the 3rd inning, but in the top of the 5th the Royals used some small ball to tie the game 1-1. Mike Aviles broke the tie in the 8th inning with his 3rd home run of the season. Ron Mahay pitched a perfect 8th, and Joakim Soria did the same in the ninth for his 16th save of the season. Kansas City will look for their fourth win in a row Wednesday in the second game of the series.
