The Minnesota Twins got a solid pitching performance from Livan Hernandez Tuesday, leading to a 2-1 win over the Washington Nationals. Hernandez pitched seven innings allowing only 5 hits and 1 run. Joe Mauer gave the Twins the lead in the 6th inning, which a 2 run blast. That proved to be enough for Minnesota as the bullpen remained sharp. Joe Nathan closed it out for his 18th save of the season. Joe Lannan pitched well for Washington allowing only 2 earned runs but his offense could not provide any support after they fell behind.
