Though the offseason saw the Mets lose a star pitcher and Cy Young winner in R.A. Dickey, there was still great news to come out of Queens. The Mets resigned homegrown third baseman David Wright to an eight-year, $138 contract extension that will keep him in the Big Apple through 2025 and likely through the end of his career. The 30-year-old hit .306 with 21 home runs, 93 RBI, 91 runs, and 41 doubles last season en route to his sixth All-Star appearance. He already stands as the Mets’ all-time leader in hits, runs scored, walks, RBIs, doubles, and total bases.
