The 2013 NASCAR season essentially belonged to Jimmie Johnson, who finished out the year with his sixth Sprint Cup Series title and first since 2010, in addition to securing his second career win at the Daytona 500 back in February. Most expect to Johnson to carry this momentum over into 2014, when he'll look to become the first back-to-back winner of the Daytona 500 since Sterling Marlin accomplished the feat in 1994-95. As usual, "The Great American Race" will signal the start of the NASCAR season when the 56th edition gets underway on Feb. 23 at Daytona International Speedway. One notable change to be implemented in 2014 is that the Daytona 500 qualifying races, known as the Budweiser Duel, will take place in the evening, under the lights on Feb. 20.
One of the most memorable moments from last year happened before the race even began, as Danica Patrick became the first woman to win the pole, though she ultimately finished in eighth place behind Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Mark Martin, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Newman, Greg Biffle, and Regan Smith.
