Enduring it was terrible, but the NHL lockout is now a part of history and the 2013 Phoenix Coyotes schedule is great enough to forgive and forget about the 113-day debacle. The Coyotes are looking to resume their fantastic play from a milestone season last year. They won their first Pacific Division title; took out a stellar Chicago Blackhawks squad in six games in the first round, which was their first playoff series win since 1987; defeated the Nashville Predators in the second; and made it to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in team history. The Coyotes’ season opener is set for January 19th at 8:00 PM against the Dallas Stars, and they will make their home debut at Jobing.com Arena in a playoff rematch against the Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 20th.
If the Coyotes hope to reverse their recent playoff dry spell they’ll have to get things going early in the season. Ray Whitney, Radim Vrbata, Shane Doan and the rest of the crew are slated to face plenty of tough competition this season. Phoenix will invite the defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings to at Jobing.com Arena on Jan. 26th, and this will be a rematch you won’t want to miss. The Minnesota Wild will come into town on Feb. 4th sporting the shiny new tandem of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, and the Coyotes will head north to play the Vancouver Canucks on Feb. 26th.
