Following an eight year absence from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Phoenix Coyotes have advanced to the NHL's second season two years in a row. Nevermind that the Coyotes lost both first round series to the Detroit Red Wings - consecutive postseason appearances are a proud achievement for the franchise. The next goal for Phoenix is obvious: win a playoff series for the first time since the team moved from Winnipeg to the Valley of the Sun.
With an eye on taking his team to the next level this season, head coach Dale Tippett has brought in free agent reinforcements in the form of left winger Raffi Torres, center Daymond Langkow, and goalie Mike Smith. more
However, fans will be buying 2011-2012 Coyotes tickets primarily to see stars Shane Doan, Keith Yandle, and Radim Vrbata command the ice at the Jobing.com Arena. If Tippett can get bigger contributions out of players like Martin Hanzal and Lauri Korpikoski, Phoenix very well may be celebrating their first Stanley Cup Playoff series victory come April.
