Information about the WCHA Final Five Tournament
The WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) came into existence in the year 1951 as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey League by Denver, Michigan State, Colorado College, Michigan, North Dakota, Minnesota and Michigan Tech. The association altered its name to the WCHA, after its two seasons, which more appropriately stated its geological position.
The WCHA is an academy athletic conference that operates above a spacious region of the Western U S and Midwestern. Like a hockey conference, it takes part in the NCAA's Division 1. The WCHA squads had won all the six women's titles (the initial being held in the year 2001) and five successive NCAA men's titles (including the last seven games), with the end of the 2006 season. The Western Collegiate Hockey Association was recognized as the MCHL from 1951-53, which then became the WIHL from the year 1953-58, and finally on the WCHA in the year 1959.
The 2008 WCHA Final Five will take from March 20-22, for the eighth straight year, in Saint Paul at Xcel Energy Center. The WCHA will partner Minnesota Wild Broadcasting and Fox Sports Net North to bring the foremost actions into the drawing rooms of the mass across the nation.
