About Curtains

Peter Stone started formulating the plot for and writing Curtains, unfortunately, Stone died in 2003 leaving the unfinished book for Rupert Holmes to re-write. The lyrics were composed by Fred Ebb who also passed away before the musical was finished. Additional lyrics were written by Kander and Holmes.
The premiere of Curtains was held in Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre in 2006. With no bad local reviews coupled in with some good ones, the show was moved to Broadway. In 2007, after 23 previews, the musical opened in 2007. It was directed by Scott Ellis and choreographed by Rob Ashford. The musical earned eight Tony Award nominations with David Hyde-Pierce winning for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.
Curtains closed at the end of June in 2008 but is scheduled to re-open for tour in the fall of 2009. The new tour is a co-production with Atlanta’s Theater of the Stars.
