The show starts with a shy beginning as the felines are aware of the audience. Cats is truly amazing in that the cast really fills the roles perfectly. As the show starts to quicken its pace you get to meet each individual cat as they perform their own personal jellicle dance in the Naming of the cats. Like most cats in everyday life they are suspicious and proud so its no surprise that each cat has three different names. Cats really keeps the audiences attention as they explain their secret names, only shared amongst each other, their more dignified name, and of course the name that the felines family uses daily. The characters in CATS really keep you focused on each beautiful move they make and even more so with the catchy tunes. Seeing CATS is seeing a play for the music, the dancing, and the costumes. This play is much different than others, with a minimal story line that is filled in by numerous great numbers. CATS is about a group of felines, who live in a junkyard, and are all getting ready for the annual Jellicle Ball to decide which cat can be reborn. With Tony Awards in 1983 for Best Musical and Original Score, among 5 other awards, CATS tickets are a must have.
