Soldier Field is home to the Chicago Bears. The stadium began construction between in the early 1920's in which it officially opened on October 9th, 1924. It can hold a capacity crowd of 61,500. The stadium originally opened as Municipal Grant Park Stadium was renamed Soldier Field in November 1925. It was formally dedicated during the Army-Navy game in 1926. The stadium has a rich history of boxing matches as well as rock concerts and it was in 1971 that the capacity was cut down so that ticket holders could be closer to the field. It was in 1978 that Soldier Field underwent renovations and was completed in 1981 with new seating areas, suites and a computerized scoreboard. In January of 2002 the Bears said goodbye to old Soldier Field as many renovations were in store as the stadium took on a whole new look. It holds soccer games, concerts and boxing to this day.
