10 'Simpsons' Cameos We'd Love to See

May 15, 2015 by Amy

Musicians on The Simpsons

Phish

Phish appeared on "The Simpsons" during the Season 13 episode, "Weekend at Burnsie's."

After more than 25 seasons and 550 episodes, “The Simpsons” has amassed an impressive list of cameos, so many in fact, that one of its several Guinness World Records is for “Most Guest Stars Featured in a Television Series.”

Chief among the laundry list of "Simpsons" cameos is musicians, as everyone from the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, U2, and of course, Fall Out Boy, whose name is derived from a “Simpsons” character, have made appearances on the long-running show.

On the heels of the recent news announcing that at least two more seasons of “The Simpsons” are in store for fans, we decided to take a look at some artists who have yet to come to Springfield. Take a look below at the 10 musicians we think deserve “The Simpsons” treatment.

1. Taylor Swift
Dec. 1989 marks the month and year for both the birthday of music superstar Taylor Swift and launch of “The Simpsons,” so what better time to at last bring the two together than during a holiday episode? Swift’s 1989 World Tour is set to wrap on Dec. 12, one day before her birthday, and five days before the 26th anniversary of the premiere date of “The Simpsons.” Plus, if Britney Spears can get a cameo, why shouldn’t Taylor?!

2. One Direction
Boy bands and young heartthrobs are certainly no strangers to “The Simpsons,” as acts like ‘N Sync and Justin Bieber have both made appearances, but alas, One Direction has yet to pass through Springfield.

3. Garth Brooks and 4. Shania Twain
Appearances from country music artists has been few and far between over the years, but “The Simpsons” simply MUST extend invitations to Garth Brooks and Shania Twain, icons of the genre in the same vein as Dolly Parton, who was featured way back in Season 10.

5. Ed Sheeran
One “Simpsons” fan in particular is so eager to see stud Ed Sheeran guest star that we tracked down this fun piece of fan art featuring the singer as an apparent replacement for Bart.

6. AC/DC and 7. Van Halen
While Ron Taylor is credited with being the first-ever musician on the show, Aerosmith’s appearance in Season 3 was notable for being the first time a full band was featured on “The Simpsons.” However, other prominent acts that also emerged in the early 1970s, like AC/DC and Van Halen, are still waiting on a call in 2015.

8. Foo Fighters
Thanks to a contributor over at Deviant Art, we know how great the Foo Fighters would look if they ever get the chance to stop by Springfield.

9. Josh Groban
Though his unmistakable voice has yet to appear on “The Simpsons,” Josh Groban, who is often noted for his spot-on comedic timing, did have the honor of being painted by a friend of Lisa’s during an episode in Season 20.

10. Lana Del Rey
Like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and many other singers before her, there’s no doubt a “Simpsons” cameo by Lana Del Rey would be quite memorable.
