As the anticipation builds over the weeks and even months leading up to the start of a new college basketball season, along with it comes a slew of predictions and preseason polls to help forecast the year for fans. And if your loyalties lie with Saint Joseph’s men’s basketball, you have plenty to be excited about, as the preseason poll had the squad finishing atop the Atlantic 10 Conference for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
As the preferred secondary ticket provider for the Hawks, Vivid Seats will have 2012-13 Saint Joseph’s men’s basketball tickets in stock throughout the season. In addition to the great A-10 matchups ahead, be sure to reserve your place at Michael J. Hagan Arena for exciting non-conference clashes against squads like Yale (11/12), Harvard (11/20), Fairfield (12/22), and Iona (12/28).
Making the preseason selection all the more impressive this time around is who the Hawks beat out in voting this year. In case you missed it, the A-10 had quite the offseason, as it welcomed the addition of mid-major powerhouses, Butler and VCU. Collectively, the two programs boast 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, three Final Four trips, and two national title game appearances.
The returning league members aren’t too shabby themselves, as nearly every program had a shot at the Big Dance late into the season last year. Saint Louis, which will be without head coach Rick Majerus this season due to health reasons, was tabbed second in the poll, followed by VCU, Temple (final season in the A-10 before going to the BIG EAST), UMass, Butler, LaSalle, Dayton, Xavier, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Charlotte, George Washington, Fordham, Rhode Island, and Duquense.
