A self-proclaimed redneck, Jeff Foxworthy’s lasting popularity as a comedian stems from his down-to-earth, working class persona. You can see that blue collar identity on TV with two brand new shows scheduled to air in the coming year. The first, The American Baking Competition, challenges amateurs to create baked goods in a weekly elimination-style format. The show is based off an ongoing British series, where baking aficionados put their technical and creative kitchen skills to the test. Foxworthy will serve as host on the CBS bake-off show, providing comedic relief alongside celebrity chef judges Paul Hollywood and Marcela Vallodolid. The first episode airs on May 29.
Foxworthy’s second project marks the first animated show to appear on the Country Music Television (CMT) network. Bounty Hunters follows three friends trying to make a living in the risky business of hunting criminals. The characters are voiced by Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, and Bill Engvall, reuniting three stars of the hugely popular Blue Collar Comedy Tour. That tour, which lasted for six years, spawned three films, a television series, and even a satellite radio station. The animated series does not yet have an air date set, but CMT has reportedly ordered thirteen episodes of the season. With so many ongoing ventures Foxworthy only has a few standup shows scheduled for this year, so grab Jeff Foxworthy tickets while they’re still available.
