Cake Background Information
Cake is a popular band from Sacramento, California that was formed in 1991. Their music is often classified as alternative or indie rock. However, it combines diverse musical genres, like pop, funk, jazz, ska, rap, and country. The band’s music work features droll lyrics rife with word play and syncopation, guitar riffs, and a solo trumpet. Their unique approach to composition, instrumentation, and arrangement has been compared to They Might Be Giants, The Cars, Talking Heads, Soul Coughing, and Camper Van Beethoven.
