The Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl is a post-season NCAA college football bowl game that has been held since 2003. The Texas Christian University, located in Fort Worth, Texas, hosts the bowl game at its Amon G. Carter Stadium.
The previous names of the bowl were the PlainsCapital Bank Fort Worth Bowl, when funded by PlainsCapital Bank (2003-2004), just the Fort Worth Bowl, while it didn’t have any financial supporter, and the Alltel Wireless Bowl (for quite a short period of time).
At the beginning the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl fielded a team from Mountain West Conference and a team from the Big 12 Conference. But since 2006 the Big 12 Conference has been replaced by Conference USA or the Pac-10 (exchanging). Today the bowl fields an MWC team against an C-USA team every other year, like it was in 2006 and will be in 2008.
In 2007 the participants will be represented by a Pac-10 team, which will score the 6th place in the Conference and provided it fulfill the requirement to go bowling, and by a MWC team. This year the game will take place on the last day of the year - December, 31. The participants are still unknown, though according to some sport predictions the Pac-10 is unlikely to provide enough teams that will manage to fulfil bowl eligibility requirements, thus the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will probably have a vacant place. Make sure you are able to get your Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl tickets for this stunning matchup, marking the end of the year.
