The Champs Sports Bowl is an annual college football bowl game played at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Former venues include Joe Robbie Stadium/Pro Player Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The game has been introduced in 1990 and since that time has changed five sponsors, including Blockbuster (1990 — 1993), Carquest (1994 — 1997), MicronPC (1998 — 2000), Mazda (2002 —2003), and the present-day Champs Sports (since 2004). The Bowl has been known as Sunshine Classic, Blockbuster Bowl, Carquest Bowl, MicronPC Bowl, MicronPC.com Bowl, Visit Florida Tangerine Bowl, and Mazda Tangerine Bowl.
Since the 2006 football season, the bowl has matched up teams from the Big Ten Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference. The game is managed and organized by a non-profit group Florida Citrus Sports, which is also known to organize the Capital One Bowl and Florida Classic.
The latest game was played on December 29, 2006 and ended up with Maryland’s glorious victory over Purdue with the devastating score 24:7. The next Champs Sports Bowl game is scheduled for December, 28, and will be held at Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando at 5:00 PM.
