The AutoZone Liberty Bowl is a college football game which is played in the USA in December annually, starting from 1959. The Liberty Bowl game was originally played in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at John F. Kennedy Stadium until the year of 1963. At the beginning, the game, which was the only game played in winter, did not see many spectators. Therefore, the 1964 game was played indoors in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at the Convention Hall and saw around 6,000 fans.
Starting from the year of 1965, the game has been regularly held at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The venue is a football stadium situated at the Mid-South Fairgrounds in Memphis, Tennessee, and it is a home field of the University of Memphis Tigers football team. The Stadium can seat 62,380 people. Besides the Liberty Bowl tournament, the Stadium hosts other professional sports events, as well as local football games and other meetings.
