The R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl is an annual NCAA-sactioned post-season college football bowl game. The game takes place at the Louisiana Superdome, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The bowl has been held since 2001. Before the New Orleans Bowl had such names as the Wyndham New Orleans Bowl, while funded by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (2002-2004), and New Orleans Bowl at Lafayette, when in 2005 it was located in Lafayette (the game was held at Cajun Field of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette because the Louisiana Superdome was damaged by Hurricane Katrina). Now it is funded by R&L Carriers thus the game bears its name.
The R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl fields the winner from the Conference USA and a team from the Sun Belt, though the first game hosted the North Texas from the Sun Belt and the Colorado State from the Mountain West. The Colorado State team defeated the North Texas by the score of 45 to 20.
Last year the game fielded the Troy and the Rice, who managed to take part in a bowl for the first time during the last 45 years. The Rice was defeated with the score of 41 to 17. The next R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl will take place on December, 21. The participants will be chosen soon.
