The Sun Bowl (also the Brut Sun Bowl) is a college football game, which is played every year at the end of December in El Paso, Texas. The first game was played on the first of January 1935, and thus it is one of the oldest Bowl games. In the early years of the bowl the participants were the Border Conference (NCAA-affiliated college athletic conference) champion and at-large opponent. The first three games were hosted at the El Paso High School Stadium, and later at the Kidd Field. At present the matches are played at the Sun Bowl Stadium (since 1963), which is the home to the UTEP Miners football team. The university granted the land where the stadium is situated, to El Paso, who lately built the stadium for the college and for the Sun Bowl matches.
