The New York Dragons is a team of Arena Football League (AFL). It was formed in 1995 under the initial name Iowa Barnstormers. They are currently involved in the Eastern Division in the National Conference. They shifted to their present fortress in the year 2001. The present warren of the New York Dragons is the renowned Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the home of NHL's prominent team the New York Islanders.

The team was initially famous as the Iowa Barnstormers from 1995 to the year 2000. The team had been fruitful at Iowa as it had reached the ArenaBowl during the seasons of 1996 and 1997. The club experienced the need for a more developed market and also for a more advanced home. This set them on the course to New York. The New York Dragons are currently a part of the Eastern Division in the National Conference. The Dragons were responsible for setting up the league record on account of most points in a game against Carolina Cobras. The New York Dragons at present have Aaron Garcia, the highlight of the team and the league.

The Official mascot of the Dragons is a dog called Sparky, the same mascot as the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL). This team of today is experiencing phenomenal growth and there is every surety of it becoming a legend of tomorrow.
