Lucas Oil Stadium Information
Lucas Oil Stadium is scheduled to open in September 2008 and will be the new home the Indianapolis Colts. After three years of construction, Lucas Oil Stadium's estimated price tag is currently $625 million and the stadium will have a retractable roof so the Colts may play inside or outside. This stadium was built to keep the Colts in Indianapolis after rumors began to circulate that the team may leave for Los Angeles. The NFL has already scheduled Super Bowl XLVI to be played on February 5, 2012 in the Lucas Oil Stadium.
The new stadium will hold 63,000 fans with the ability to expand seating to 70,000 for large sporting events and concerts. The stadium will house 150 luxury suites and will have one of the largest video boards in the NFL. In addition to football games, the stadium can be converted to a basketball stadium and is scheduled to host the NCAA Basketball March Madness Tournaments. Once Lucas Oil Stadium is constructed, the current stadium, RCA Dome, will be demolished.
