Nationals Park Information

Nationals Park is home to none other than the Washington Nationals. The first baseball game played in this stadium was between the Atlanta Braves and North America on  March 30th 2008. It has the capacity to seat 41,888 fans.

This stadium cost $611 million to build completely. The aspect that makes this ballpark unique from others is that the fans not only get to have the opportunity to watch a fabulous game but also have a clear view of the U.S Capitol building and the Washington Monument from certain areas of the stadium.

Mayor Anthony Williams choose this beautiful location along the Anacostia River as one of the four possibilities for the future locations of the ballpark. There is also a 102 foot long out-of-town scoreboard in the right field and a 101 foot long main scoreboard.

Pope Benedict XVI visited the US in 2008 and traveled to Washington DC to meet President Bush. He celebrated mass in Nationals Park on April 17th. 200,000 people submitted a request to attend the mass but only 47,000 were able to get ticket. The stadium holds mainly baseball games.
