Tropicana Field Information

Tropicana field in the city of St. Petersburg, earlier known as Sun coast dome from 1985 to 1993 and Thunder dome from 1993 to 1997, opened in 1998 after the renovation from 1996 to 1998. From 1998 onwards it has been the home of Major League Baseball's Tampa Bay Rays. It is built with architectural style of a Cookie cutter stadium with a dome. The seating capacity is nearly 45,000.

This ballpark has been built with state of the art modern technologies with an enhanced playground and has Astro turf and all dirt base paths. It has been credited with excellent amnesties and entertainment opportunities. A shopping mall, club houses, beach, a travel agency, cigar bar and a bank, are all well placed in the Tropicana field for the benefit of great baseball spectators.

One of the outstanding feature of this ballpark is that orange lights in the top of the dome will be blinking whenever the Tampa Bay Rays win. The field will serve for the St. Petersburg Bowl as the host stadium and also for the college football bowl game sanctioned by NCAA starting by December of 2008.
