Founded in 2008 in Buies Creek, North Carolina, the Campbell Fighting Camels have surged into the FCS conversation, climbing from the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League to the Big South in 2018 and into CAA Football in 2023. Along the way they stacked winning seasons, top-25 votes, and individual honors, highlighted by Big South Defensive Player of the Year Brevin Allen and NFL tight end Julian Hill.

Longtime head coach Mike Minter helped shape the modern era with a fast, physical identity and memorable highs against regional foes. Home Saturdays unfold at Ed Gore Field at Barker-Lane Stadium, where Gaylord the Camel leads a loud, close-to-the-action student section, and tailgating under the pines turns campus into a sea of orange. Expect spirited local showdowns each fall and a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere that makes first-timers feel like regulars.
