A proud MIAA member, the Mules have won or shared 14 conference titles, including 2019 and 2023, and own multiple NCAA playoff trips. Program legends include Harlon Hill winners Eric Czerniewski and record-setting quarterback Zach Zebrowski, who captured the award in 2023 and 2024. Game days feel like a community holiday. "Get the Red Out" turns Holden Street into a pregame block party, students and alumni crowd the west grandstand and grassy hill, and a new HD videoboard lights up nights at a venue that hosted Missouri’s first college football night game in 1929. An annual showdown with Northwest Missouri State amps the atmosphere.
