Founded in 1894 in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, the Lincoln University Lions football program helped define HBCU athletics. A charter CIAA member, the Lions captured the 1924 conference championship and fueled a Thanksgiving tradition with Howard that drew thousands to the Classic. Legends touched the sideline, including Fritz Pollard, later the NFL’s first Black head coach, and Paul Robeson, who directed the 1920 game.

Today’s game days feel close-knit and electric at Frank "Tick" Coleman Field at Lincoln University Football Stadium, a 2,350-seat home opened in 2012. The Orange Crush Roaring Lion Marching Band sets the rhythm as students pack the rails, alumni reunite at Lion Fest, and tailgates roll across Homecoming weekend. Whether you follow the CIAA slate or the Battle of the Firsts with Cheyney, every snap carries that proud Lincoln energy.
